The
Cardinal's Menu The picture sets the scene in Italy where his eminance the Cardinal converses in his chamber with his favourite chef. Surrounded by all the produce of forest, sea, and garden, they have to devise a remarkable dinner for the Cardinal's guests of the evening. Interestly enough in what could be considered
as a pendant to this subject, Vibert later painted Le Cordon Bleu which
depicted an assembled group of clergymen applauding the chef after their
highly satisfactory dinner. |
