Morning of the Wedding

This is an oil on panel  12"x 16" held in a private collection.

The setting is in an 18th century coppersmiths shop. The husband to be carefully dresses whilst his best man lolls tipsily on the small table, observing his friends meticulous preparations.

Although only a relatively small painting, it is beautifully details and is one of many depicting period details that he grouped together in a collection which he called "Common folk of the Eighteenth Century".
