In May 2008 there was a gathering of Viberts here in Jersey to celebrate our heritage.
Viberts came from as far away as Gaspe, Canada;USA; UK; and France.
Amongst many trips around the Island , some descendants of the original settler to the Gaspe on the Canadian Tree were kindly shown around the original farmstead where their ancestor lived, which date back to the early 1700’s.
One evening was spent at a little soiree kindly hosted by the then Connetable of St Ouen, Ken Vibert, at St Ouen’s parish hall.
Tables were laid out with all the trees posted on this site, and attendees encouraged to add notes and update/correct trees as required. In the top right hand picture below the tree on the is the Canada Tree in descendant tree format. It was only one A4 sheet high, but went up and down the table three times it was so long ! All the tables had blues covers. The white is the descendant trees laid out on top of them. I must have got through about ten rolls of sellotape that week.
Needless to say a good time was had by all.
It is so wonderful to see a family as dedicated as your family. To find so much about your ancestry. My family has done some research, but not nearly as much as you have. It is amazing to see your family reaching out to each other. I have seen you in many films and praise your work and hope to see you in many others. Judy Dale
